This week we introduce iN’s newest contributor, Palak Bhatt, Mindfulness Coach & Reiki Master. In this first column she writes around the timely theme of International Women’s Day.
To Every Woman Who Has Ever Loved, Fought, and Conquered
There are no words vast enough, no poetry deep enough, and no language rich enough to truly capture the essence of what it means to be a woman. Yet, today, I write to you—with the deepest respect and admiration—to remind you of the power you carry, the love you give, and the legacy you leave behind.
From the moment you took your first breath, the world was graced with a force of nature. You, who have held families together, carried generations forward, and stitched broken hearts with nothing but tenderness. You, who have stood strong even when the world tried to bend you, who have wiped away tears—your own and others’—without asking for anything in return.
You are strength, but not the kind that merely lifts weights or breaks barriers. Yours is the quiet strength that wakes up before the sun to care for a home, to chase dreams, to heal, to create, to nurture, to love. The strength that carries the burdens of many without ever letting them see how heavy they are. The kind of strength that doesn’t demand recognition yet deserves the highest honour.
You are love—the purest, most selfless kind. The kind that finds its way into the smallest gestures: a warm embrace after a long day, the gentle words that mend a wounded heart, the unwavering presence that says, I am here, I will always be here. You give and give and give, even when there is little left for yourself.
You are kindness, in a world that often forgets how to be gentle. The way you listen, the way you understand, the way you make space for others to simply be—without judgment, without expectations. Your kindness does not ask for recognition, yet it changes lives every single day.
You are resilience. Oh, how many times have you been told no? How many times have you been underestimated, dismissed, silenced? And yet, here you are—rising, learning, growing. Every scar you carry is proof of battles fought, of storms weathered, of a spirit that refused to break.
For centuries, women like you have been the quiet architects of the world. You have led revolutions, held homes together, built empires, and birthed generations. And yet, so often, history forgets to say your name. But I see you. I honour you.
And today, I want to thank one woman in particular—my mother, Dipa Purani.
Mom, you are the reason I stand, the reason I believe in love, in kindness, in resilience. You have been my teacher, my guide, my shelter, my spine. If the world ever made me doubt myself, you were the voice that reminded me of who I am. When I was lost, you became my map. When I was weak, you were my strength. When I fell, you lifted me—not with words alone, but with the kind of love that heals wounds no one else can see.
You have taught me that a woman is not just made of flesh and bone but of fire and soul. That true beauty is not in how we look but in how we love, how we give, how we endure. That the greatest battles are not fought with fists but with patience, wisdom, and an unshakable heart.
Mom, you have sacrificed more than I will ever know. You have given your days and your dreams so that I could chase mine. And still, you stand tall—not just as a mother, but as a woman, a warrior, a beacon of light in a world that often forgets to appreciate the ones who shine the brightest.
To you, and to every woman reading this, I say: You are seen. You are valued. You are extraordinary.
The world may try to define you in a thousand ways—by your roles, by your looks, by your silence or your voice. But never forget: you define yourself. You are not just someone’s daughter, sister, wife, or mother. You are you—and that is enough. That is everything.
So today, I celebrate you. I honour you. I thank you.
For all the battles fought in silence.
For all the tears wiped away before anyone could see.
For all the dreams put on hold so others could chase theirs.
For all the love you have given, even when your own heart was breaking.
For all the times you were tired, but still kept going.
For being the backbone of families, the heartbeat of communities, and the soul of the world.
May we always know our worth.May we always remember our power. And May the world finally learn to honour us the way we have always honoured it – with love, with grace, with unwavering strength.
Love & Light,
Palak Bhatt
