Get ready to say thank you for the music  – because the beloved ABBA musical is coming to the Nairobi stage in a joyful new production by the Kenya Amateur Dramatics Society (KADS) directed by Jeni Stow.

This season, the troupe presents Here We Go Again, a stage adaptation inspired by the hit sequel to the smash musical Mamma Mia!. Packed with familiar favourites and a few glittering surprises, the production revisits the sun-soaked world, built around the ever-popular songs of ABBA.

Set on an idyllic Greek island, the story moves between past and present, exploring how young Donna forged friendships, found adventure, and fell headlong into romance long before her daughter Sophie’s wedding ever brought three possible dads to her doorstep. With plenty of heart, humour and high-energy choreography, the show blends nostalgia with contemporary storytelling, all underscored by ABBA’s irresistible soundtrack.

Expect a parade of crowd-pleasers, from “Dancing Queen” and “Mamma Mia” to “Waterloo” and “Fernando,” delivered with the kind of exuberance that has made the musical a global phenomenon since it first opened on London’s West End in 1999. The songs may be decades old, but their infectious spirit, with equal parts disco sparkle and emotional punch, continues to pack dance floors and theatre seats alike. Love, laughter and a few emotional crescendos ensure the drama never quite says I do, I do, I do, I do, I do to slowing down.

For Nairobi audiences, KADS productions have long been a dependable source of feel-good theatre, and Here We Go Again promises exactly that: a night of escapism, big vocals, and joyful nostalgia. This musical will have audiences crying Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!…just one more number and humming all the way home.
