In Conversation With Shrena Malde
Pranic Healer based in Mombasa
We meet Shrena Malde in Mombasa, where the ocean air feels almost symbolic of the work she has dedicated the last two decades to — clearing, balancing and restoring energy. A practising Pranic Healer for 20 years, Shrena speaks about healing not as mystery, but as method. Not as miracle, but as life force in motion.
Here is our full conversation.

For readers encountering your work for the first time, how do you describe Pranic Healing?
“Pranic Healing is a no-touch, no-drug therapy,” Shrena explains. “It uses life force from the surroundings to help heal the body.”
She offers a simple analogy.
“Just like a car needs petrol, our body needs life force.”
According to Shrena, this life force — often referred to as prana — exists all around us. When the body’s energy is depleted, congested or imbalanced, physical and emotional discomfort can follow. Pranic Healing works by removing heavy or diseased energies and replacing them with lighter, cleaner energy.
“It is about supporting the body’s natural ability to heal,” she says.
She adds that the modality is used by doctors, nurses, acupuncturists, therapists and other professionals as a complementary approach when treating ailments.
What led you to this path?
Shrena describes her entry into healing work as driven by curiosity.
“I was always curious about the science of miraculous healing,” she says. “That curiosity led me to this journey.”
What began as exploration became commitment. Over nearly two decades of practice, she says the transformation has not only been visible in those she works with — but within herself.
“I have experienced a very positive life transformation through this practice.”
How long have you been practising, and how has that time shaped you?
Shrena has been practising for almost 20 years. With that longevity has come both depth and refinement.
The consistency of her work, she explains, has strengthened her understanding of energy patterns and human behaviour. Over time, she has witnessed how emotional states, stress and mental strain manifest energetically — and how restoring balance can create shifts beyond the physical.

What happens during a typical healing session?
A standard session lasts between 15 and 30 minutes.
“The process involves removing heavy energies and replacing them with lighter energies,” she explains.
Importantly, the method is entirely no-touch. The practitioner works within the body’s energy field, cleansing and energising specific areas depending on the concern presented.
The aim is to restore balance and allow the body to respond naturally.
Who is this work for?
“It is for everyone who wants to help themselves,” Shrena says simply.
From infants to young adults to elderly individuals, she believes anyone can benefit from energetic balancing.
The core requirement, she notes, is openness and willingness.

How do you define wellness within an African or Kenyan context?
Her answer is holistic.
“Wellness is living in balance,” she says. “With your body, your mind, your faith, your family and your responsibility.”
In a Kenyan context, she emphasises that life is interconnected. One cannot separate physical health from community life, spiritual grounding or personal accountability.
True wellness, she suggests, is harmony — not only within oneself, but in relationship to others.

How has your work supported local communities?
Shrena highlights one particularly meaningful impact: improved harmony within educational environments.
“Increased peace and harmony among students and teachers has helped the local communities,” she says.
By working with individuals to release stress and emotional heaviness, she has observed calmer interactions, clearer communication and improved relational dynamics.
Healing, in this sense, extends beyond the individual. It ripples outward.
After 20 years in practice, Shrena’s perspective remains grounded and steady. For her, Pranic Healing is not about spectacle. It is about restoring the quiet balance that allows people to function, relate and live with greater peace.
In a fast-moving world, she offers something subtle yet profound: the reminder that energy matters — and that harmony begins within.
